Hi, I’m Greg Iacurci, a journalist from Brooklyn, New York. Travel has been a mainstay in my life since I was a wide-eyed, 20-year-old college student meandering Paris’ serpentine streets during a semester abroad. That trip instilled in me a sense of awe and joy at the possibilities that come with exploring new and familiar places.
There’s a soul-purifying grandeur inherent to trekking just about anywhere in the world — both on a grand and micro scale. I’ve taken in soaring views in the German Alps near Munich and the endless, green hillsides of Scotland’s Highlands; I’ve absorbed the vibrant energy of passerby on Nice’s beachside Cours Saleya from pastel-colored, open-air cafés. Both award their own unique sensations, revelations and glimpses into local culture.
This website, An Ode to the Road, is meant as a love letter to travel — musings, photographs, itineraries and more. I hope to communicate both my wonder at discovering each locale’s intimate details and idiosyncrasies, and spark the same wanderlust in each of you. The world is a beautiful place. Let’s explore it together.
